Testimonials

“I have had a recurring back injury for the last 18 months which left me with a back ache and numbness in my thigh.  I had one session with Joanne which released the pain and, although sore the next day, I have had no pain or numbness whatsoever since.  Great service, thank you Joanne” Deborah, Five Oaks Consulting, Essex

“I had been experiencing pins and needles in my fingers for a number of weeks and after meeting Joanne Larner at a Business Meeting decided to attend for a consultation with her.
After a through consultation and initial assessment she started massage and manipulation treatment.
After the first session I felt considerably better and incredibly after three sessions the sensation in my fingers had completely returned to normal.
I am so impressed with the results and was so impressed with the professional service provided by Joanne.  Thank you Joanne”
Amanda Phipps, Eastwood, Essex

About Joanne Larner

Joanne trained in osteopathy at the London School of Osteopathy for five years, at first studying anatomy and physiology, in depth.

Later subjects included pharmacology, radiology, patho-physiology, psychology, clinical methods and differential diagnosis.  Osteopathy itself, both theoretical and practical was studied alongside these, including many hours of clinical practice.  Joanne qualified as a registered osteopath in 1996 and now works both in her own home practice and in another osteopathic practice, treating a wide range of problems.  She uses various techniques which include massage, articulatiion, muscle energy techniques, manipulation, craniopathy and functional technique.  She occasionally works as an examiner in practical osteopathy at the LSO.

Joanne became interested in reflexology later on, feeling it would enhance her osteopathic treatments.  She attended classes at Southchurch Adult Education College (part of the Anglia South Open College Network).  She was taught both the theory and practice of reflexology, which involved extensive coursework and case histories, which provided excellent hands-on experience.

She later also took a course in Indian Head Massage at Southchurch Adult Education College, where she was taught the theory and practice of Indian Head Massage.  Students practised on each other to ensure they could work with a variety of hair and head types.

Reiki followed more recently, providing a natural progression in her learning.  Joanne believes we never stop learning and enjoys exploring other therapies which might enhance her patients’ experience.

Her latest therapy is Thermal Auricular Therapy or Ear Candling, which is very relaxing and can help with ear blockage, sinus problems, headaches and tinnitus.

She is fully insured to practice all the above therapies and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.  Only registered osteopaths are recognised in law and entitled to practise osteopathy and call themselves an osteopath.
